It Was Over When the Pagers Exploded
On September 17, as we worked to understand the situation and navigate through Hezbollah's disinformation campaign, accounts linked to the group spread claims that solar panels, TVs, and even doctors' and medical staff's pagers had also been rigged with explosives.
Some Hezbollah-affiliated accounts went so far as to incite against the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) hospital, accusing it of prior knowledge about the rigged pagers. They suggested that AUB had replaced their pagers in advance, implying complicity with Israel’s plot. Meanwhile, over a hundred injured Hezbollah militants were being treated at the hospital. Truly malicious, they never fail to amaze me by how low they’d stoop in the face of their own failures and hubris.
